Obituary for Harold R. Kemp

Harold (Buzz) Kemp, age 68, of Ridgefield and previously of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Loving husband (of 45 years) of Lynn Kemp (nee Cleveland). Devoted father of Jennifer Kasabian and her husband Ari of Ridgefield, and Jonathan Kemp of Ridgefield. Cherished Grandfather to Ariana (his birthday twin). Dear brother of Frank Kemp and his wife Sue of Morganville, NJ, Peggy Barrett and her husband Jack (deceased) of Toms River, Gregory Kemp and his wife Judi Gerardis of North Haledon. Predeceased by his brother, Raymond. Devoted uncle of Emily, Matthew, Jacqui, Catie, Joseph, Alissa, Kayla, Rebecca, Nicole, James.

Buzz was born in Weehawken to his parents Harold and Mary Kemp. He was raised in Union City. He was a mechanical Engineer who worked in both Aerospace and Medical Device industries. Buzz was an innovative engineer and machinist in the development of new processes and equipment related to the production of orthopedic implants. He was a dedicated volunteer EMT for many years on both Union City and North Bergen Ambulance Squads. He was President of Lakeland Aero Model Club - instrumental in the development of Leonia Airdrome (BCMA) in Overpeck Park. He was an avid model airplane pilot, who built and flew both gas and electric planes. Helped to instruct and mentor novice model airplane pilots and loved all things related to aviation. Buzz was a gifted “Mr. Fix-It” – could figure out anything mechanical in the house, a car or boat. Family members and neighbors often called upon his experience when they needed help, and he never hesitated to assist. Buzz was a proud member of the Ridgefield NJ GOP and cared about the community, pitching in as a coach, civic leader and supportive neighbor. He also lived in the Lanoka Harbor NJ community and could be seen frequently walking his dogs to the beach and chatting with neighbors. He enjoyed the waters of Barnegat Bay and having fun with friends and family on the lagoon and just living the Jersey Shore life.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to all the teams who cared for him at HUMC and home.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to: Tunnel to Towers Foundation … www.t2t.org
